cViewMANAGER (New version March 2007)

cViewMANAGER is our automatic manager and scheduler for Crystal Reports.  It runs as an application on the Windows desktop.

(Please see cViewSERVER if you are looking for a scheduler that runs as a Windows service)

This application enables you to automate the production of your Crystal Reports. It can send your report as an email attachment, print on any system printer or save in a variety of formats to a disk file.   A trial version can be downloaded from here

Other features include

  • Email client and server independent.  cViewMANAGER will save your report and send later if the server is not available
  • HTML output can be formatted and sent with images in the body of an email message rather than as attachments.
  • Viewing reports that require secure access (user ID and password).  This includes secure subreports.
  • Export to PDF, Paginated Text, and HTML
  • Report Scheduling for Working days
  • Date parameters automatically loaded with "Today", "Last Week", etc.
  • Multi-Run reports - rerun a report and change a parameter and the destination (email address, disk file, etc.)
  • List management - maintain an external list of values and destinations for a group of scheduled reports to use
  • Current Status available via your web browser
  • Report Collections to schedule several reports as one item
  • Click here for a 1 page brochure pdf

When cViewMANAGER is installed, the Crystal Reports version 10 run time files are included. This will enable you to schedule reports written in version 10 or any earlier version.

Older Operating systems: If you have an older operating system (prior to Windows 2000) and can only run version 8.5 or earlier Crystal Reports, you can use our version 8.5 of cViewMANAGER which includes version 8.5 Crystal reports run time files.

The trial version limits the schedule to two reports.  The full functionality comes in the version you  purchase.

cViewMANAGER- Key Features

Supports your version of Crystal Reports
cViewMANAGER is available in 4 versions.  The versions have the same features, but install with different versions of the Crystal Reports run time.  Full installs are available for Crystal Reports 8.5,  10.0 and 11.0.  Upgrades also are available for version 9.0

Dynamic Dates
You specify a dynamic date calendar and this can be used to load a date parameter in the report schedule. An example would be a scheduled report that always uses the current accounting period start and end dates in the report.  Calendar support includes calendar months, 4 week periods and 4-4-5 week accounting.

Business Calendar
This feature enables you to run a report on business days (Monday-Friday or Monday-Saturday) and business hourly (E.g. every 45 minutes between 9am and 4pm).  You can also specify a list of public holidays which do not get processed.

Improved Management
You can view more information in the report schedule and sort by next run date, previous run date, report title, and location.  The log file can be filtered and sorted and you can now view the SMTP log from within cViewMANAGER

Improved Help
The cViewMANAGER help files now include a list of the key features and a FAQ page.

Multirun Status
A status box is displayed while the multirun is processing to indicate which parameter value and output destination is currently being processed.

SMTP Spooling
If the SMTP server is busy or not available, email reports are saved in a folder and are sent later when the server becomes available.  Run scheduled reports on your laptop and they are sent when it reconnects to the network.

In-Body Messages
cViewMANAGER can export HTML reports and the HTML formatting and images are included in the email message itself rather than as attached files.  This feature also applies to output formatted as Text and CSV.

Mail Client and Server Independent
cViewMANAGER now uses SMTP to build and send email messages direct to you mail server.  You do not need to have specific versions of Outlook or use MAPI specific email clients.  This means cViewMANAGER can work with MS-Exchange, GroupWise, Lotus Notes or any other SMTP compliant mail system.  This also means that cViewMANGER will operate in environments that have installed Outlook 2002 or the Outlook Security patch that interrupts 3rd party programs from sending email.  We no longer send email via Outlook. cViewMANAGER also supports mail servers that require SMTP authentication.

HTML email reports
HTML reports will email the entire report, not just the first html page, and we can embed the HTML report and images into the body of the email message rather than sending attachments. (Crystal Reports 9.0 export will only send you the first HTML page, and exclude any attached images or subsequent pages)

Printer Control
cViewMANAGER will automatically print your reports and you can control the number of copies and the page orientation.

Action on "No Data in report"
cViewMANAGER can be used for exception reporting.  If a report selects no data you can control what is to happen.  Choices include sending an empty report, not sending any message, sending a short email warning either to the recipient list, or the schedule administrator.

Improved Schedule management
You can now sort the schedule by any of the columns in the schedule, and we have a global find and replace command that you can use to change all the entries in the schedule.  This applies to File names, output destinations, and email addresses.

Improved Parameters
We now support multi value parameters.  Range parameters are planned for a future release.

Improved Multirun
The MultiRun feature is one of the powerful features in cViewMANAGER.  This enables you process a report repeatedly, change the value of a parameter for each run and send the results of each run to a different destination. cViewMANAGER 8.12 supports the ability to modify multiple parameters for each multirun.

Report Collections
You can group together several reports and schedule them as one item.

Email processing
We have rewritten the email processing to improve the response rate and to handle a wider range of mail server performance levels.  Notify message no longer include the Cc and BCC addresses.  Error message processing has been improved.  Multiple email addresses can now be separated by semi colons.

New Export formats include Tab Separated Text and Values, and XML.

History of development
A full list of all the changes and a version history is included in the help files.

Improved DB processing
We have modified the db access and password process to handle a wider range of database connections.

Web Status Report
If your cViewMANAGER server is also running a web service then you can view the current status and some log information from a web browser on a remote machine. The status also includes which report is currently processing.

Improved Exports to Paginated Text
We have added an export to Paginated Text, and version 8.20 will export reports to CR7 format.

Improved Date Stamps
We have added a new option for %s to include the file name in seconds in the destination file name.
